Aims and Scope of Adv Clin Exp Med

General information

Bridging science, care, and implementation

Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine (Adv Clin Exp Med) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that highlights the full translational pathway of biomedical research – from laboratory discoveries (“bench”), through clinical application (“bedside”), to real-world practice and policy (“implementation”). The journal welcomes original research articles, reviews/meta-analyses, clinical recommendations/guidelines, research-in-progress reports, research letters, and study protocols authored by recognized experts in clinical and experimental medicine. The journal does not publish case studies, case series, and bibliometric studies.

By embracing this translational continuum, Adv Clin Exp Med serves as a platform for studies that not only advance scientific knowledge but also demonstrate clear potential to improve patient outcomes and healthcare systems. We particularly value contributions that bridge gaps between experimental insights, clinical trials, and the implementation of evidence-based practices in diverse medical settings, especially those developed by international, multi-center research teams.

Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine is a multidisciplinary journal positioned at the interface of general and internal medicine, clinical research, and real-world implementation in healthcare systems. The journal demonstrates a consistent upward trajectory in impact and visibility, reflecting growing international recognition and increasing citation of its clinically relevant content. By integrating experimental insights with population-based and practice-oriented research, the journal serves as a platform for translational medicine from the bench through the bedside to implementation.

Indexed in major databases including Scopus, MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded, Journal Citation Reports), and Index Copernicus, the journal maintains a strong international presence. Its current Impact Factor is 2.5, 5-year Impact Factor is 2.3 (2025), and its CiteScore is 4.2 Articles published in the journal are worth 70 points among Polish journals according to the Polish Committee for Scientific Research and 161.00 points (for 2024) according to the Index Copernicus.

The journal is published monthly (12 issues per year), with articles typically available online ahead of print.

History of the journal

Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine has been published by the Wroclaw Medical University since 1992. The originator, organizer, and first editor-in-chief of the journal (1992–1997) was Prof. Bogumił Halawa. The journal, then entitled Postępy Medycyny Klinicznej i Doświadczalnej, appeared quarterly. Prof. Leszek Paradowski was editor-in-chief from 1997 to 1999. In 1998, he initiated changes to the journal's profile and cover design, which were approved by the Editorial Board. The title was changed to Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine. Articles in English began to appear in the journal. Several outstanding representatives of medical science from Poland and abroad were invited to participate in the newly established International Editorial Staff. Professor Antonina Harłozińska-Szmyrka was editor-in-chief in the years 2000–2005; in the years 2006–2007, once again, Prof. Leszek Paradowski and Prof. Maria Podolak-Dawidziak were editor-in-chief; in the years 2008–2016, Prof. Leszek Paradowski and Prof. Maria Podolak-Dawidziak were editor-in-chief. From 2017 to 2020, the editor-in-chief was Prof. Maciej Bagłaj, and since 2020, Prof. Donata Kurpas.
