Abstract
The aim of this article is to present the history of the development of the classification of psychiatric disorders. This process has been strongly associated with the development of psychiatry and the criteria for diagnosing psychiatric disorders have changed over time. The diagnosis of psychiatric disorders is usually more challenging than diagnoses in other spheres of medicine due to the lack of a clear connection between the symptoms shown by a patient and the pathology which is the source of these symptoms. This article outlines the historical development of a systematic classification of psychiatric disorders, the ICD and DSM.
W pracy przedstawiono zarys historyczny powstawania systematycznej klasyfikacji zaburzeń psychicznych – ICD i DSM.
